If you're new to the world of being a plant mom (welcome) then the following leaf babies are perfect options for you to start learning how to properly care for house plants. Nothing is more frustrating than pouring your heart and soul into a plant and having it die on you again and again and again...... Trust me, we've all been there.

That's why I rounded up four low maintenance house plants to help get your green thumb going ( bonus: not only will they look great in your home, but they will also provide some unbeleafable health benefits…. It’s a little plant pun, take it or leaf it. )

Snake Plant (my personal favorite )

  • Water: 1 every 2-6 weeks

  • Sunlight: Keep out of direct sunlight

  • Benefit: This elegant looking plant is known for filtering/purifying the air of harmful toxins and converting carbon dioxide in to clean crisp oxygen at night. It's great to have in your home if you suffer from allergies or have any respiratory problems.

Aloe Vera ( a skincare junkie's must-have)

  • Water: 2-3 times a week/deeply but infrequently

  • Sunlight: Likes sunlight

  • Benefit: Aloe Vera purifies the air of formaldehyde and benzene, two chemicals that are commonly found in household cleaning products. This plant also contains a gel that for centuries has been used for skincare/beauty purposes. Its gel is naturally anti-bacterial and full of vitamins which makes it ideal for treating minor cuts, burns (including sunburns), hydrating the skin, and treating acne/acne scars.

Spider-Plant

  • Water: 1 a week

  • Sunlight: Keep out of direct sunlight

  • Benefit: This plant eliminates environmental toxins such as carbon monoxide and xylene providing cleaner air in your home. It's also non-toxic to animals making it the perfect house plant to have around your fur babies.

Boston Fern

  • Water: Must be misted regularly and kept moist

  • Sunlight: Keep out of direct sunlight

  • Benefit: The Boston Fern removes harmful toxins from the air and improves humidity by helping restore moisture to the air. Because of this it is said that this plant helps relieve dry skin, noses, and throats.
